I was not sure whether I would be able to post this month’s challenge entry on time. We are on vacation – in India! Yay!!
Fashion, or rather, capturing fashion, is not one of my strong points. I prefer photographing still life – things that do not have moving limbs and definitely, not a mind of its own.
There are a number of paths I could have chosen for this challenge. But appearing in front of the camera was out of the question – not very good at selfies. I really wanted to capture some shots of the bustling fashion bazaars in India, but we just got here and shopping hasn’t happened yet.
Then I remembered that fashion is not just about clothes and shoes. Isn’t it more about personality than anything else?
So, I present you this dashing, young gentleman – our darling Boy. He is going through a punk rock phase right now.
Presenting, the great hawk!
PS: Remember that he is only 4! Remind me to look back fondly at these days a few years from now.
And yes, true to the challenge, I styled his hair myself, though it happened a couple of months back, before the vacay.
I am always at a loss while photographing indoors at night. I had to use fluorescent lighting, because there was no way I could capture the details in a softer light. Remember, what I told you about subjects with squirming arms and legs? Which meant I had to use a faster shutter speed, so I needed more ambient light.
Ok, done with the excuses now! Hope you enjoy the pics. And the attitude!
And yes, I am shamelessly exploiting a basic human tendency to melt at the sight of a cute kid’s pics. Hahaha (insert sinister laugh)!!
Before you go, be sure to check out the other posts at these participating blogs. I am so excited to see what the others have come up with.
As always, please leave your feedback, let me know what I could have done differently, and be sure to check out next month’s post on the concept ‘Light’.
You can still join in the fun! Click on the Photography Styling Challenge button in the sidebar if you’d like to take part in future challenges.

By the way I could not comment on the Easy chicken curry recipe can you please check.
Anjana @ At The Corner Of Happy & Harried says
Thank you so much.
As for the comment on the curry recipe, I think it was a temporary tech glitch. It should be working now…

Oh my goodness! You have the cutest little boy, and that cheeky grin is too cute! He is going to be a heart breaker one day for sure 🙂
Well done on these photographs, I’m sure capturing your son was a challenge. I, like you, much prefer still life photography (much easier to control!).
Hope you’re having a wonderful time on holiday x

I just melted into a puddle of mush on the floor. What a cutie he is! And that attitude totally goes with his mohawk!
Although you have make use of the indoor lighting rather wonderfully, I miss your daylight photography on this shoot…
Anjana @ At The Corner Of Happy & Harried says
Aww… thank you, Vaish!
I miss the bright, natural light too. Although with Boy, I have found that I cannot be choosy and just need to shoot him when he is willing… haha!

Happy vacation! What nice head of hair that kid has. I too struggled with capturing “fashion” and the possibility of photographing a moving toddler as my subject. You got some truly adorable photos out of this shoot and some pretty hip hair as well.
Anjana @ At The Corner Of Happy & Harried says
Thank you, Nicole. He had wispy hair as a baby, but now he has a nice head of hair!
Photographing kids is always a challenge. I am just glad I got a couple of good shots.
