Crisp, fresh green beans stir fried with butter, garlic, shallots and crunchy walnuts makes for an easy and delicious side ready in 15 minutes.
You will need:
Green beans - 1 lb, ends trimmed
Butter - 2 tbsp
Garlic - 3-4 large cloves, thinly sliced
Small red shallots - ¼ cup, halved or quartered
Toasted walnuts - ½ cup
Salt - to taste
How to:
Bring water to a boil in a large pot. Add green beans and cook for 3-4 minutes. Remove from water and quickly immerse beans in ice water to stop the cooking process.
Heat butter in a large skillet. Add garlic and shallots and saute for a couple of minutes till fragrant.
Add green beans and saute for a few seconds. Season with salt to taste.
Stir in walnuts and remove from heat. Serve immediately.
Notes:
1. You can use almonds or pecans instead of walnuts.
