Ha! Just when the themes were getting sort of abstract, M throws a curve-ball! It’s back to the basics, by inspiring us to polish our ‘styling’ skills for this one. The challenge has that very word in it, lest we forget.
If the title didn’t clue you in already, this month’s challenge is ‘Living Room‘. The first (and probably the only) thing you would notice as you enter our living room are the toys, in all sizes, shapes and colors imaginable. I will serve you an extra cookie if you do not step on a miniature Lego block (ouch) or trip over a toy car, and actually make it to the couch in one piece!
So instead of a sweeping view of our living room, let’s concentrate on a small area, shall we? We do not own a stylish coffee table, as I really do not see the point in it. With a boy constantly bouncing around, the poor piece of furniture that acts as our coffee table is usually pushed to a corner. But I brought it back front and center for this post.
In a life where I do not have to worry about stuff being knocked over or toes getting stubbed, I may actually invest in a stylish coffee table with stylish (read expensive) accessories on it. Oh, but what a boring life that would be! Anyway, what I meant to say is that I tried styling our coffee table for this shoot. Phew, I can get chatty, can’t I?!!
Since it is gloriously warm nowadays (after an exceptionally harsh winter), I couldn’t wait to get my hands on some green things… er, plants. Glass jar terrariums are all the rage nowadays, so I decided to make a couple of them. It turned out rather cute, if I may say so myself. (Whether they will survive or not, now that’s a different question.) These terrariums are just what our living room needs – a unique, non-kid-related conversation piece.
A while ago, I gravitated a lot toward blues and greens. You can see that in the way I styled our bedroom for this shoot. Recently, I selected a set of new cushion covers in warm tones. So I’ve tried to reflect that in the styling too. I think it makes the greens really pop. What do you think?
Since this a photography challenge, here are a couple of cool shots and angles that I liked.
On a side note, I just love elephants and horses. They both are such majestic beasts. But elephant accessories are way cuter. Just look at this hand-carved beauty!
I cannot believe this is our penultimate challenge. Like everyone says at such a juncture, “Where does the time go?”!!
As always, let me know what you think. I love your feedback and insightful comments. Before you go, be sure to check out the other posts at these participating blogs.
