My Spring Cleaning Schedule, Sort Of!

February 19, 2013 by Anjana @ At The Corner Of Happy And Harried 3 Comments

Here in south-central Texas, spring is definitely on it’s way. Though the nights are chilly, the days are getting warmer. I see little green leaves starting to sprout on some trees. The weather was making me so preppy, I made a spring to-do list the past weekend. I plan to get things done slowly, but surely, over a span of two weeks.

Day 1:

  • Start with the food pantry. Clean/purge/arrange pantry.

Day 2:

  • Clean under kitchen and bath sinks.
  • Clean/purge/arrange bathroom cabinets.

Day 3:

  • Clean/purge/arrange Boy’s toy shelf.
  • Clean/purge/arrange dressers and shelves in bedroom.
  • Clean fan and other fixtures.

Day 4:

  • Clean refrigerator and microwave. And while I am at it, I will clean the kitchen cabinets and drawers.

Day 5:

  • Organize the closet! There are even Christmas decorations in boxes lying on the closet floor. I do need to put away things that don’t belong there.

Day 6:

  • Clean washing machine and dishwasher.

Day 7:

  • Clean oven, stove, greasy cabinets above the stove and deep clean kitchen counters.

Day 8:

  • Clean all windows. Take care of curtains.

Day 9:

  • Clean living room. Wash couch covers.
  • Clean fan and other fixtures.
  • Start on new cushion covers. I have been meaning to do that for a long time using this pretty material I got from Hobby Lobby a long time ago. I am no seamstress by any means, so let’s see how it goes!

Day 10:

  • Take care of my small apartment garden. Re-pot the bamboo, the poor thing has been surviving in a small pot for so long now!
  • Do something with the decor. Try spring crafts!

I already took care of Day 1 and Day 2 and it feels so good. I’ve tried to alternate days of heavy cleaning with lighter ones, so that I don’t feel overwhelmed. Since I am lucky enough to stay at home currently, the house is generally in a not-so-bad condition! There are a lot of chores I do automatically very week, like cleaning the bath, vacuuming the house and mopping floors. This does make a difference!

Today is Day 3 on my schedule – cleaning Boy’s toy room. I am not sure it is going to get done, because said person is home with a bad cough! I was going to store away some of his toys and bring out some old ones, but I am pretty sure, it is not going to happen right now!

I will keep you guys posted on how the whole thing goes. And also, tips on cleaning appliances, green cleaning using vinegar and baking soda and other such tips I use at my house. So, stay tuned!

I am linking this up at the Clean House link Party at I Heart Organizing.
