DIY Jewelry Holder

February 21, 2013 by Anjana @ At The Corner Of Happy And Harried 16 Comments

I love accessories especially earrings and bangles/bracelets. I have a modest collection of earrings and bracelets. I was storing them in generic plastic boxes in my dresser and always ended up wearing the same couple of pieces every time. Out of sight, out of mind, right?

So I searched around for a pretty jewelry holder. I read somewhere that some of the metal holders may tarnish the jewelry. So I got this hanging organizer from ah-mazing Amazon to hold my earrings and a few necklaces.

But what about my bracelets? Back in India, every household has a wooden bangle holder thingy. Like this one from Dolls of India. Pretty, but do I really need to spend $17?

Now anyone with real DIY skills can easily replicate this with a couple of wooden dowels and a drill. Not me. So I made this!

All I needed was a tall vase, some fillers and branches. I filled a tall glass vase with red vase filler stones. Any filler like stones or pebbles will work. Then I collected a couple of branches with many arms to hold the bracelets.

I just stuck the branches into the stones and made sure they were held strong.

Up went all my bracelets and bangles on the branch arms. And a couple of necklaces too. Ta-da! A no-fuss jewelry holder which makes for nice dresser top decor too!

You can see my tray holding makeup essentials which I mentioned in this post. The ruler is in no way connected to makeup. It just went up there so that little Boy can’t get his hands on it!

I may paint the branches sometime in the future. But for now, I am digging the natural look being lazy!

Having my accessories displayed makes me wear them a lot.

And the best part is, since I re-purposed items I already had, this project cost me a grand total of $0. Even otherwise, this would have cost me just  a couple of bucks. The stones and vase can be found in dollar stores. And since there is no drilling or gluing involved, I can always dismantle it if I get a better idea!

Updated: I finally got around to painting my jewelry holder branches. I used a pleasing blue paint leftover from another project.

That’s a really great idea! I’m selling jewelry at a festival this weekend and have been looking for unique ways to display it–this fits the bill! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
