More Lovelies From My Garden

June 11, 2013 by Anjana @ At The Corner Of Happy And Harried 20 Comments

I have shown you a few lovelies from my little patio garden earlier. Here are some more.

Delicate pink impatiens. Red and white begonias.

Fantasia dark red geraniums.

My yellow and cream/off-white rose bushes bloomed. The flowers are smaller than usual, I think they need a boost of energy. Anybody knows of any natural plant nutrients?

I believe that kids should be taught how to care for plants at an early age. I gave Boy some fenugreek seeds to plant. Straight from my pantry. I have never planted fenugreek before, but they are supposed to be easy and produce whitish flowers. They actually thrive on neglect and need to be watered every 2-3 days only.

I helped Boy plant some mustard seeds too. We used regular mustard seeds bought from our Indian grocery store. They sprout very fast and are fast growers. They can grow quite tall and produce pretty yellow blooms. They need to be watered daily, at least in hot Texas weather.

Boy was really fascinated to learn that a plant grows from such a tiny seed! The first time we planted the seeds, he plopped himself down right next to the pot and said he was waiting for the plants to come out! So cute!! Wish it was that fast and easy, my Boy!

A few potted plants on the patio railing.

The tall stalk you see is a bamboo-like plant. I have no idea if it is indeed some variety of bamboo.

I found an anthurium plant at Lowe’s the other day. We have a lot of varieties back home, but this is the first time I am trying to grow them here. I see a new bud coming!

More beautiful flowers and plants! I love taking pictures of flowers. I can’t wait to have a house so I can have a garden. I want pretty flowers and a vegetable garden. Sounds like I should try my hand with fenugreek first. I’ve never been really great with house plants. In fact, I own none now. I actually ended up killing my cactus’ a while back and never replaced them. Thanks for sharing with us at Photog Show and Tell!

      Thank you, Bethany!
Hope you get to enjoy some plants soon. You must absolutely try fenugreek or mustard. Easy to grow, but they don’t withstand the winter.
      Thanks for hosting!

Visiting from Cottage Garden Party. Good for you to get the boy interested in gardening and starting seeds already. He’ll know how to grow food for his own table down the road.

Hi Anjana, stopping over from the blog hop Brag about it. Thanks for sharing the lovely post on your home garden. I would love to try this at home with DD. Have you tried planting any herbs or Indian sprigs?

The bamboo-like plant is Dracaena and is not related to bamboo though sometimes sold as ‘Chinese Lucky Bamboo’ in the West.
