Sweet Valentine’s Day Recipes

February 7, 2016 by Anjana @ At The Corner Of Happy And Harried 8 Comments

Sweet Valentines Day Treats - By Anjana at Happy & HarriedValentine’s Day brings out the best and sometimes the worst in people. For some, the day has to be picture perfect, with flowers, wine, candlelit dinners and wooing; anything less and all hell breaks loose, while others couldn’t care less. As for the mister and I, we are in it just for the food. Especially if they are as sweet as these. If you are planning a cozy meal for two or feeding an army, you will find ideas for breakfast and desserts sweet enough for the special day right here. And yes, most of them involve strawberries or chocolate, though I do have a couple of surprises in store for you. Enjoy!

1. Caramelized Banana Crepes

Delicate Homemade Crepes Filled With Caramelized Bananas

Begin the day right with a sweet breakfast of paper-thin crepes stuffed with caramelized bananas. Never made crepes before? They are easier than you think. Read the post for tips and tricks. What’s more? You can totally make them ahead, assemble and reheat before serving in the morning. Or noon. Or whenever!

Find recipe here.

2. Lemon, Yogurt & Berry Waffles

Lemon Yogurt Berry Waffles With Raspberry Syrup

Don’t want to flip crepes? Let the waffle iron do all the work for you. Try my lemon, yogurt and berry waffles with a sweet raspberry sauce. Crisp on the outside, light and fluffy inside, they are the perfect start to your day.

3. Chocolate Covered Strawberries With Dulce De Leche

Chocolate covered strawberries are a must-have Valentine’s Day treat. They are perfect though. Since it’s mostly fruit, these are relatively healthy and very easy to make. I added a layer of luscious dulce de leche to my chocolate covered strawberries for added oomph. Yum!

4. Strawberry Cupcakes

Strawberry Cupcakes & Strawberry Buttercream Frosting Made With Real Strawberries

These pink cuties are a snap to make and absolutely delightful. Both the cupcakes and the buttercream frosting are made with real juicy strawberries and contain no artificial flavors or colors. They add cheer to any dessert plate and appeal to both kids and adults alike.

5. Chocolate Cupcakes

Easy Chocolate Cupcakes With Whipped Frosting And Sprinkles

If strawberries are not your thing, and you’d rather have something dark and indulgent, these chocolate cupcakes are what you should be baking. Topped with a light and fluffy chocolate whipped cream frosting, every bite is a chocolate lover’s delight!

Find recipe here.

6. Homemade Chocolate Truffles

Chocolate Truffles

If cupcakes are not your thing but candy is, why not make some fancy chocolate truffles? They look and sound fancy, but let me tell you, truffles are really easy to make at home. What’s more, you can totally customize the coating. Better yet, set up a truffle rolling and coating station and have fun on your date night!

Find recipe here.

7. Strawberry Ice Cream

Strawberry Ice Cream {Eggless, No Cook, No Churn Recipe}

If it is getting warm around your neck of the woods, or like me, you actually love ice cream even in the dead of winter, then this creamy no-churn homemade strawberry ice cream recipe is for you.

Find recipe here.

8. Strawberry Vanilla Cake

Rustic Strawberry Cake

This is the recipe to use if you think that baking and decorating cakes are not your forte. A rustic cake with light floral and fruity notes, it is a cinch to put together and simply cannot go wrong. And oh, it smells and tastes absolutely amazing!

Find recipe here.

9. Carrot Halwa & Vanilla-Orange Custard Tarts

Carrot Halwa Tarts (Indian Carrot Pudding Tarts)

Bring the best of east  and west together with this luscious and seductive dessert. Flaky, buttery crust filled with a delicious carrot halwa and custard pudding, and served with more of the light vanilla-orange custard, this is one beautifully indulgent Valentine’s Day treat.

Find recipe here.

10. Bhapa Doi {Baked Yogurt Pudding With Pomegranate Coulis}

Bhapa Doi or Yogurt Pudding with Pomegranate Sauce

If elaborate desserts are not your thing, try this silky baked yogurt pudding that takes literally 5 minutes to prep. Top it with a quick pomegranate reduction or coulis, nuts and rose petals to add to the allure.

Find recipe here.

Whatever your plans are for Valentine’s Day, do try whipping up one of the sweet treats, maybe just for the fun of it.

Happy Valentine’s Day, all you lovely people. May you have abundant love and companionship in your life!!
